About
A legacy of listening and care
Our goal is to make counselling accessible to all people who need it.
The Mary Calvert Project CIC is a Community Interest Company dedicated to offering free counselling sessions to residents of Keighley and surrounding areas who cannot afford private counselling and other wellbeing services.
Our mission is simple: everyone should be able to access quality mental health care when they need it most — in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space.
Mary’s story
Why this project carries Mary’s name
Mary Calvert was a well-known figure in Keighley, known for her compassion and her desire to help others. She had time to listen, and she supported people when they needed it most — including young people who needed a steady hand.
Mary heard about local counselling support and wanted to donate so that people who could not afford therapy could still receive it. She passed away before she could do this herself. With her family’s blessing, this project continues that wish in her name.
“My mum, Mary was an inspirational lady who left a lasting impression on all those lucky enough to know her. Her compassion and desire to help others were constant themes in her life. She always had time to listen to other people’s problems and to support them when they needed it most.
The creation of this fund will allow her legacy to live on. Mary would be humbled to know her name is being used for this and delighted that those who can’t afford the help they need can access it regardless of their financial situation.
I’m honoured to lend Mary’s name to this fantastic initiative and to put some good will into the universe. Mary would have wanted nothing more.”
Nick, Mary’s son
What we offer
Confidential counselling, funded for those who need it
We offer confidential therapy — face to face in Keighley or online — funded for people who would otherwise be left without support.
By supporting the project, you help break down financial barriers to mental health care in our community.
